We popped in to the Good Fryday Burnout at Sydney Dragway to check out the action and found this totally insane little rotary powered Suzuki van ripping a few skids. Check out that glowing exhaust. We've seen a few hot systems in our time but never one that glowed so brightly.

This is one mean looking machine for sure. It's a 1966 Union Pacific Rotary Snow plow that's powered by a 16 cylinder, 3000 HP Turbo Diesel. It has 12 foot Rotary blades that turn at up to 150 RPM's. It's the heaviest machine of this type ever built, weighing in at 367400 Lbs. It takes 3 or 4 Locomotives to push this plow at 4 to 6 mph. I hope you find it interesting, thanks for watching! Instrumental background track is, Cowboy Whiskey, and it was provided, royalty-free, by www.freesoundtrackmusic.com. BNSFs Alliance based rotary works southward at milepost 17 on the Giltner Subdivision which runs between Aurora and Hastings, Nebraska, on December 28, 2009. The line has been closed due to a Christmas snow storm that brought 40mph sustained winds and heavy drifting during BNSFs annual holiday shutdown on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

From there 1971 album "Hey Love" Rotary Connection was a psychedelic soul band formed in Chicago in 1966. The highly experimental band was the idea of Marshall Chess, son of Chess Records founder Leonard Chess. Marshall was the director behind a start-up label, Cadet Concept Records, and wanted to focus on music outside of the blues and rock genres, which had made the Chess label popular. This led Marshall to turn his attention to the burgeoning psychedelic movement. He recruited Charles Stepney, a vibraphonist and classically-trained arranger and producer for sonic wizardry. Marshall then recruited members of a little-known white rock band, The Proper Strangers: Bobby Simms, Mitch Aliotta, and Ken Venegas. Sidney Barnes, a songwriter within the Chess organization, also joined, as did Judy Hauff and a Chess receptionist named Minnie Riperton, who would later be successful in her own solo career. Marshall also called up prominent session musicians associated with the Chess label, including guitarist Phil Upchurch and drummer Morris Jennings. Included in this video montage is a homage to the late great Sun Ra.
I had some old engine parts laying around the shop so I made this little video showing what the inside of a rotary engine looks like and how they work.
